The Golden stair case
"I have a poetry book, given to me by my mother for Christmas in 1952. I have used it well and often and so have my children. And it was time to either give it a make-over and allow it to continue to bring joy to family and friends for more decades, or let it disintegrate.
I decided it was worthy of being preserved and spent much time searching for someone who could do a ‘good, sensitive’ job for me. Attending the Kapiti Arts Festival I met Jan Weststrate of CloggyArt. I spoke to him, showed him my book, and we had a long conversation about what I wanted to achieve, and he made suggestions of ways this could be done. I felt confident that Jan understood what I wanted and I was willing to put my book in his hands. Because the book is of great sentimental value to me, when I saw the finished product I was quite emotional. It was more than I had hoped for, with strong covers made to the design of the original, and copies of the original inner front pages had been used to great enhancement. I was delighted with the job, and felt much care and consideration has been given."
